Choose two chapters, one from each textbook, for the reading summary.
Racism: A Very Short Introduction (by Ali Rattansi) • Chapter 1, 2, & 3

How to Prepare the Assignment?
• Scan through the article before careful reading.
• Read the article carefully by dividing the text into several themes and/or sections.
• Highlight the key points, arguments, and the evidence used in the article/chapter.
• Take notes of the key points, arguments, and counterarguments.
• Reflect on whether you understand and re-read the section, if necessary, that is unclear.
• Start writing the summary in your own words.
• Cite the key concepts and sentences but don’t cite too much from the original text. Too
much citation undermines the originality of your writing.

• Evidence and/or examples used.
