DISCUSSION 1: RESPOND WITH 75 WORDS, AN IN-TEXT CITATION, AND REFERENCE
I personally agree and resonate with Sendjaya’s holistic and multidimensional approach to servant leadership. This form of leading is so much more than simply being kind to others, or telling people what to do. In fact, the textbook states, “The holistic construct signifies the selfless life orientation that a servant-leader possesses,” (Van Dierendonck & Patterson, 2010). Although servant leadership can be considered to be made up of multiple differing dimensions, they all support and relate to each other in a way that makes servant leadership so powerful. Servant leaders understand that more goes into success than just themselves, in fact, they must believe that true work gets done through people when their needs are met. By utilizing the six dimensions of voluntary subordination, authentic self, covenantal relationship, responsible morality, transcendental spirituality, and transforming influence, servant leadership becomes truly holistic and all encompassing. This approach affects my personal and professional interactions by encouraging me to be much more supportive to others, no matter the state they are in or how much they have achieved. – Astraea

DISCUSSION 2: RESPOND WITH 75 WORDS, AN IN-TEXT CITATION, AND REFERENCE
My understanding is that Sendjaya sees servant leadership as holistic and multidimensional because she sees servant leadership as a form of leadership that is all-inclusive and encompassing. For example, the book states that “there is nothing new about servant leadership that has not been addressed in existing leadership approaches”(Van Dierendonck & Patterson, 2010). However, Sendjaya believes that servant leadership is holistic which I believe comes from the idea of combining both the leader as well as the people being served. Showing us that it is very different from others I think that the idea of multidimensional in terms of servant leadership in her perspective is showing that a servant leader should be able to embody all parts of what needs to be served. So for example, this would be physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental. This is something that can affect my personal and professional interactions with others in the sense that I need to be able to see the leadership position and the people being served as one, and that I need to be able to incorporate all portions of being a leader. – Tara
