Gubernatorial Debate Watch Party
Hi, all,
As you may know, at 7pm tomorrow evening UTRGV will host a debate between the Republican and Democratic candidates for governor, Greg Abbott and Beto O’Rourke. This will be the only debate between the two candidates before the election (Abbott didn’t want to have any, O’Rourke wanted to have three, so they settled on one).
There will be no audience for the debate, so if you’re wondering if you can attend, you can’t.
However, the UTRGV Civic Engagement Alliance and the Student Union are hosting Debate Watch Parties on the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses, starting at 6pm. They promise free pizza as well as bingo and games. You can get more information and RSVP to attend the party via VLink in Brownsville and Edinburg.
You can also watch the debate at home. It will be broadcast by the local TV stations in both English and Spanish.
If you watch the debate — whether at one of the watch parties or elsewhere — I will give you 10 points of CE Journal credit. To get credit, you need to write a 1-2 page essay discussing what you learned from the debate. Email your essay to me directly, after the debate.
