Students frequently report getting lost in an article and struggling to decipher the important parts from the less important parts relative to their literature review goals. In your textbook, you learned about the various parts of a research design and some tips on how to read a scholarly article. Now, we’re going to put that into action!
For your prompt select an article related to the topic you plan to use for your research proposal assignment. Write an APA-style reference for your article, including the URL. Then, using the terms and knowledge you acquired from the text, answer the following questions and explain your reasoning for each:
What approach does the researcher take?
Is the research exploratory, descriptive, or explanatory?
Is it inductive or deductive?
Idiographic or nomothetic?
Qualitative or quantitative?
What claims does the author make about causality?
What are the author’s units of analysis and observation? Posts are due by Saturday.
Article topic to use:
The effects of bullying on children’s mental health and their overall performance in schools
