Choose a piece of art, literature, a structure, from
Asian history OR a contemporary Asian artist that is
significant to a specific region or country. It must be
culturally significant in AT LEAST two of the following
ways: it represents or depicts key cultural features,
depicts that country/region’s interactions with
another, indicates level of cultural sophistication (art
techniques, technology and sciences, writing/language,
organized religion, etc…), reflects core social or moral
philosophies.
Using sources from the course, such as readings, links,
or lecture notes, and at least two outside
SCHOLARLY/ACADEMIC sources (may I suggest
searching the UNF library physical collection and
databases) that are specific to your region and/or to
your primary source, contextualize the source and
then analyze its purpose, its use, and its function
(these are not always the same, nor as intended by the
maker!).
