Assessment Description
Chances are, you will be caring for someone with Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, either on the job or in your personal life. Preparation is everything! For this assignment, your task is to create a 10-12-slide educational intervention to prepare new and potential caregivers of Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s patients for what to expect in caring for an older loved one.
Include the following content in your educational intervention:
Provide a minimum of three common age-related cognitive changes (e.g., neurons, cortex, white matter).
Discuss at least two evidence-based treatments and interventions (e.g., medications, therapies)
Discuss some common challenges faced by caregivers (e.g., financial, physical, emotional)
After exploring several websites related to memory loss, including dementia and Alzheimer’s (see course resources), share four to six community resources (including virtual) you believe are most valuable. Note: Include resources for the patient and the caregiver. Be sure to include links to the resources in your assignment and reference list.
Use four to six scholarly resources to support your explanations. Apply relevant topics as discussed in the textbook and other resources you have located and read (the textbook can count as one source). In addition, credible websites, such as .org, .mil, .gov, and .edu, are acceptable but cannot serve as primary sources to support this assignment.
Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style/format.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, including an APA formatted reference slide, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
