The statement of purpose will provide an opportunity to explain any extenuating circumstances that you feel could add value to your application. You may also want to explain unique aspects of your academic background or valued experiences you may have had that relate to your academic discipline. The statement of purpose is not meant to be a listing of accomplishments in high school or a record of your participation in school-related activities. Rather, this is your opportunity to address the admissions committee directly and to let us know more about you as an individual in a manner that your transcripts and other application information cannot convey.
This is my old statement of purpose:
From a very young age, I had a profound interest in sports but my passion for exercise and sports sciences truly blossomed in high school, when I became intrigued by how a person’s body works and transforms while exercising. There are hundreds of biological processes that happen in a person’s body when it is placed under stressful stimuli, which I was very keen to learn about. My application to this Bachelor’s program in Kinesiology- exercise and sports sciences at Texas A & M University-College Station is stimulated by my desire to satiate my interest in this field. Most people are unaware of the fact that following a healthy lifestyle not only helps improve physical and mental health but also reduces the risk of diseases and lengthens a person’s life span. I know first-hand how much an in-depth comprehension of sport and exercise can drastically change a person’s perception of health. I am immensely driven and fascinated to learn the incredible effects of exercising on health by enrolling in this program.
It is my firm conviction that my educational background has instilled in me the qualities needed to meet the rigor of this demanding degree. Throughout high school, both curricular and extra-curricular activities have been an integral part of my life, ranging from undertaking 34 dual credit hours to engaging in various leadership and sports forums. During the covid lockdown, I also volunteered at a local nursing home where I got the opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life. My communication skills and empathy were vastly improved during my time there, as I liaised with a wide variety of people. By the same token, I made and donated over 500 masks to the hospitals, hospice companies, and first aid responders in my hometown during the shutdown. This brief volunteering stint was a humbling experience for me and made me realize a small gesture can make a difference.
I am aware that studying sports science will require a lot of commitment and hard work, but I am very determined to use my dedication in this field as I hope to achieve my career aspirations by becoming a successful Neonatal Physical Therapist. My academic background and volunteering experience have also aided me a lot in gaining many transferable skills that would be fitting for my chosen career such as versatile problem-solving skills, respect for the public, and good analytical and communication skills.
I am very keen to undertake this course as it will allow me to gain critical knowledge in areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, human nutrition, etc. I believe a degree in exercise and sports sciences will be a pivotal stepping stone for my career as it will help me equip myself with the theoretical knowledge and research skills needed to succeed in this field and contribute to society. This program will also allow me to express myself in a creative and constructive way by putting my critical, logical, and creative thinking abilities into practice. I have complete faith that I will be instrumental in the achievement of your institute’s objectives.
My goal:
I am wanting to update the statement I have. I have changed majors I am wanting to get a nursing degree (BSN) but my second major is agriculture communication and journalism as I am wanting to do photography with that degree. information that can be used for these degree include I was in FFA and 4-H since I could be and I showed in peewee I always hung out with the photographers at my county fair and has been something I loved. For the nursing degree I want to get a BSN for neonatal nursing which is something I have thought about doing since the second grade when I made the decision I wanted to go to Texas A&M.
